Do I just suck at VTOL?

I’ve been absolutely loving the T-55 and me and my wingman were playing through the coop missions and got to the SEAD mission to train on Anti-Radiation because we’ve never really done sead properly. Every AIM-126 we fired at the targets seem to explode right above the Sam sight as if there was an invisible wall it had hit. Is the mission bugged or do we actually suck?
