I know you’re supposed to wait like 8 months but when can I switch my stud nose piercing out for a hoop

When I was getting my nose pierced with a stud, the girl told me I needed to wait eight months to a year to get a hoop. So I’m aware that’s the time frame - but when did y’all ACTUALLY switch it out lol. Because surely people arent really waiting that long??
