Amp Volume

Hi all, new to vinyl. I have a Yamaha RS300 amp with integrated phono stage, Fluance RT82 turntable Ortofon OM10 MM cartridge, and KefQ150 speakers. I have to really crank up the volume in my amp to get music from the record, usually around -14db to 1db. Is this normal? It’s considerably higher volume than digital inputs. Picking up a lot of record sound and have to be careful switching between inputs to adjust volume down first.
